Yesterday, G-MSF had the incredible opportunity to engage energetic, passionate, and determined young people from Mutuini and Kabiria who are actively leading climate action and inspiring change within their communities. Their enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to create a greener and more resilient future were truly inspiring.

Our interactive session focused on:

  • Environmental conservation and climate action
  • Mental wellness and emotional well-being
  • Opportunities through our G-MSF Certificate Courses
  • A powerful motivational talk by our Founder, Dr Margaret Gakami Wanjuhi, encouraging the youth to dream bigger, build practical skills, embrace leadership, and become changemakers in their communities.

The session provided a platform for meaningful discussions on the role of young people in protecting the environment, promoting positive mental health, and developing practical skills that can create employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods. It was encouraging to witness the participants’ eagerness to learn, grow, and become active contributors to the development of their communities.

We sincerely thank the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), including the Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) and Area Chiefs, for their invaluable support, collaboration, and commitment to empowering our communities. Your partnership continues to strengthen initiatives that create lasting impact.

At Gakami Mustard Seed Foundation (G-MSF), Youth Empowerment, Environmental Conservation, Mental Wellness, and Capacity Building remain among our core thematic areas. Today, we celebrate the talent, creativity, and determination of young people across Kenya and around the world. On this World Youth Skills Day, we recognize that investing in skills development is investing in a more prosperous, innovative, and peaceful future.

Millions of young people have the passion to succeed but lack access to practical, market-driven skills. By equipping youth with vocational, digital, technical, and entrepreneurial skills, we empower them to secure meaningful employment, start businesses, solve community challenges, and become active contributors to national development.

At G’MSF ,youth empowerment is at the heart of our mission. Through our Youth Empowerment Certificate Courses, we are opening doors for young people to gain hands-on skills that improve employability, promote entrepreneurship, and build confidence for the future.

Every young person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential. Together, let us create an environment where skills are valued, opportunities are accessible, and no young person is left behind.

Join us in empowering the next generation. Together, we can equip young people with the skills they need to build successful careers, create businesses, and transform their communities.

Happy World Youth Skills Day!

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our generation. Rising temperatures, prolonged droughts, unpredictable rainfall, flooding, and environmental degradation continue to threaten our communities, food security, water resources, and livelihoods. The time to act is now.

At G-MSF, we believe that one of the most effective ways to combat the effects of climate change is through tree planting and environmental conservation.

Today, we inspected 1,000 avocado seedlings at our Dagoretti South office, all ready for grafting. This is a significant milestone as we work towards our goal of nurturing 10,000 healthy avocado seedlings by December.

These trees will do more than provide fruit. They will absorb carbon dioxide, improve air quality, protect our soils from erosion, support biodiversity, enhance water conservation, and create sustainable sources of income for families and communities. Every seedling we raise is a step towards a greener, more resilient Kenya.

Combating climate change requires collective action. Governments, organizations, businesses, and individuals all have a role to play. By supporting tree planting initiatives today, you are investing in a healthier environment and a better future for generations to come.

The recent Kofi Annan Foundation Electoral Vulnerability Index highlights an estimated 84.1% risk of some form of election-related violence ahead of the 2027 General Election. This is not a prediction, but a call to action for all Kenyans to strengthen peace, unity, and social cohesion.

At Gakami Mustard Seed Foundation (G-MSF), we believe that peace begins long before elections. It starts with dialogue, inclusion, community engagement, and empowering citizens to become ambassadors of peace.

That is why in partnership with Community Relations Foundation we are proud to champion the Nairobi Women Peace Tournament—an initiative that brings women together through sports to promote peaceful coexistence, leadership, unity, and conflict prevention. By creating safe spaces for interaction and dialogue, we are helping build stronger, more resilient communities where peace becomes a shared responsibility.

We invite government agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, the private sector, and well-wishers to partner with us in expanding this initiative across Nairobi’s 17 constituencies.

Peace is everyone’s responsibility. Let us choose dialogue over division, unity over conflict, and hope over fear.

“Women are responsible for their children; they cannot sit back, waste time and see them starve.”- Prof. Wangari Maathai

These words are as relevant today as ever.

As Kenya approaches the election period, women and children are often the most affected by political instability. When violence erupts, it is mothers who struggle to keep food on the table, children who miss school, families who lose their livelihoods, and communities that suffer the consequences long after elections are over.

But women are not just victims of conflict, they are powerful agents of peace.
Every mother wants to raise her children in a safe community. Every woman deserves to live, work, and do business without fear. By choosing dialogue over violence and unity over division, women can help shape a peaceful future for generations to come.

That is why G-MSF ,in partnership with the Community Relations Foundation (CRF), is organizing the Nairobi Women Peace Tournament.Using the power of football, we are bringing women together to promote:
Peace and community cohesion
Mental wellness and healthy living
Women’s leadership and empowerment
Civic awareness and peaceful participation in the electoral process

Our goal is to engage 8,500 women directly, train 1,000 Peace & Safety Ambassadors, and reach all 17 constituencies of Nairobi, creating a network of women committed to building lasting peace.

Peace begins with each one of us. Together, we can ensure that this election season is remembered not for violence, but for unity, hope, and peaceful coexistence.

We invite sponsors, partners, donors, and well-wishers to join us in making the Nairobi Women Peace Tournament a success.

The journey towards lasting peace and empowered communities cannot be walked alone. That is why today, Dr. Margaret Wanjuhi Gakami met with Citizen TV journalist, Linus Kaikai to discuss how strategic partnerships and the media can help amplify the vision of the Women Peace Cup.

The meeting focused on the role of collaboration in advancing peacebuilding, women’s empowerment, and community development. Through meaningful partnerships with the media, sponsors, community leaders, and like-minded organizations, we can expand the reach and impact of this initiative and inspire more communities to embrace peaceful coexistence.

This is not just a tournament—it is a movement. The Women Peace Cup uses the power of sport to foster dialogue, strengthen social cohesion, promote women’s leadership, and create safe spaces where communities can come together despite their differences.

We appreciate journalist Linus for taking the time to engage with this vision. Every partnership brings us one step closer to building stronger, more peaceful, and more resilient communities.
