“Women are responsible for their children; they cannot sit back, waste time and see them starve.”- Prof. Wangari Maathai
These words are as relevant today as ever.
As Kenya approaches the election period, women and children are often the most affected by political instability. When violence erupts, it is mothers who struggle to keep food on the table, children who miss school, families who lose their livelihoods, and communities that suffer the consequences long after elections are over.
But women are not just victims of conflict, they are powerful agents of peace.
Every mother wants to raise her children in a safe community. Every woman deserves to live, work, and do business without fear. By choosing dialogue over violence and unity over division, women can help shape a peaceful future for generations to come.
That is why G-MSF ,in partnership with the Community Relations Foundation (CRF), is organizing the Nairobi Women Peace Tournament.Using the power of football, we are bringing women together to promote:
Peace and community cohesion
Mental wellness and healthy living
Women’s leadership and empowerment
Civic awareness and peaceful participation in the electoral process
Our goal is to engage 8,500 women directly, train 1,000 Peace & Safety Ambassadors, and reach all 17 constituencies of Nairobi, creating a network of women committed to building lasting peace.
Peace begins with each one of us. Together, we can ensure that this election season is remembered not for violence, but for unity, hope, and peaceful coexistence.
We invite sponsors, partners, donors, and well-wishers to join us in making the Nairobi Women Peace Tournament a success.
Small seeds. Lasting Impact.
