Yesterday, during the national conversation on Kenya’s future beyond Vision 2030, one reality stood out clearly: climate change is reshaping the environment in which Kenya must plan, develop, and build its future.
For G-MSF, this message speaks directly to what we believe and what we do every day.
*Environmental conservation is development.
*Tree growing is an investment in future generations.
*Protecting our natural resources is protecting our communities.
*Climate action is a responsibility we all share.
As Kenya looks beyond 2030 and thinks about the country we want to build for the coming decades, we must ask ourselves: What kind of Kenya will our children inherit?
Will they inherit green and healthy communities?
Will they have clean air, water and thriving ecosystems?
Will they live in communities resilient enough to withstand the growing effects of climate change?
The answers begin with action at the grassroots. As we continue with Plant15Billion campaign and environmental conservation initiatives, we are working with communities to grow trees, protect our environment and create a healthier, more sustainable Kenya.
And through initiatives such as the GMSF Women’s Peace Tournament, we are reminded that building the future is not only about infrastructure and economic growth. It is also about peaceful, united and empowered communities capable of taking responsibility for their environment and their future.
Yesterday’s conversation about Kenya’s future challenges us to think beyond today . The Kenya of tomorrow is being shaped by the choices we make today.
