Today, 19 August, G-MSF joins the world in commemorating World Humanitarian Day—a day to recognise the courage, compassion and commitment of people who stand with others during some of life’s most difficult moments . Theme this year is :Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities
We honour humanitarian workers who support people affected by conflict, disasters, hunger, displacement and other crises.
We recognise volunteers and local communities who step forward to support those in need, often at great personal risk.
We remember humanitarian workers who have lost their lives while serving others. Their sacrifice reminds us that humanitarian work can come with extraordinary risks.
We promote compassion, solidarity and human dignity—the belief that every person deserves help, protection and the opportunity to live with dignity, regardless of their circumstances.
We raise awareness of humanitarian crises around the world and encourage everyone to move beyond awareness to meaningful action.
At GMSF, we believe that humanitarian action starts at the community level. It can be a helping hand to someone in need, empowering a young person with skills, supporting women, promoting peace, protecting our environment, or creating opportunities that enable communities to build a better future.Because meaningful change does not always begin with something big.
Today, we celebrate those who serve humanity—and we invite each of us to ask: What can I do to make someone’s life better?
Small Seeds. Lasting Impact.
