What is biodiversity?
Biodiversity simply means the variety of all living things on Earth—including plants, animals, insects, fungi and microorganisms—and the different ecosystems where they live.
Every part of this web of life has a role to play.Take an example of earthworm 🪱. Though small and often overlooked, earthworms help improve soil structure, create pathways for air and water, and break down organic matter. This helps enrich the soil and creates better conditions for plants to grow.
This reminds us that no species is too small to matter. When biodiversity is healthy, ecosystems are stronger, more productive and better able to withstand environmental changes. However, biodiversity is increasingly threatened by deforestation, habitat destruction, pollution, climate change and unsustainable human activities.
Conservation is about more than planting trees. It is about restoring habitats, protecting ecosystems, conserving species and empowering communities to care for the natural environment.
When we protect biodiversity, we protect the systems that sustain life—including our own.
Protect biodiversity. Restore nature. Secure our future.
