A Greener City

Did you know?

A greener city is not simply a city with more trees. It is a city where nature is intentionally incorporated into the places where people live, work and move. For example:
●Urban trees along streets and in public spaces provide shade and support biodiversity.
●Parks and community gardens create green spaces for people while supporting nature.
● Rain gardens and permeable surfaces can help manage stormwater and reduce runoff.
● Green spaces along rivers and waterways can help protect natural ecosystems.
●Good waste management keeps streets, drainage systems and waterways cleaner.
● Walkable, greener neighbourhoods can make urban spaces healthier and more pleasant.

These are examples of nature-based solutions working with natural systems to address environmental and climate challenges. A greener city starts with choices made street by street, neighbourhood by neighbourhood and community by community.

What would make your neighbourhood greener?
