Nepal, home to some of the world’s highest mountains, is on the front line of the climate crisis. 🏔️
Rising global temperatures are causing Himalayan glaciers to melt, changing water systems and increasing the risks associated with floods, landslides and glacial lake outbursts.
But why should this matter to us in Kenya? 🇰🇪
Because global warming does not respect borders. What happens to glaciers in the Himalayas is part of the same global climate system affecting rainfall, droughts, floods, food security and ecosystems across Africa and around the world.
The lesson from Nepal is clear: we cannot wait until the effects of climate change reach our doorstep before we act.
