Climate change is no longer something we only talk about in the future. Across Kenya, communities continue to experience the effects of changing weather patterns, including floods, drought and environmental degradation.
But resilience is not built when disaster strikes. It is built beforehand.
It is built when we protect our trees and water sources.
It is built when communities keep drainage systems clear.
It is built when we reduce waste and protect our surroundings.
It is built when we educate young people and equip communities with practical skills.
And it is built when we choose to take action — even when the action seems small.
Kenya is also continuing efforts to increase forest cover and restore degraded landscapes, recognizing the important role trees play in protecting ecosystems and strengthening climate resilience.
At Gakami Mustard Seed Foundation, , we see every tree planted, every cleanup, every lesson shared and every community member engaged as a small seed of resilience.
Because our environment is our responsibility.
What small action will you take today to make your community more resilient?
