Course Overview

This introductory course develops the practical and interpersonal foundations of safe, respectful caregiving. Learners consider dignity, communication, hygiene, nutrition, mobility, observation and emergency response while understanding the limits of a caregiver’s role.

Who This Course Is For

Family caregivers, community volunteers and learners interested in entry-level care-support roles.

Important Note

The course is not a substitute for nursing, clinical training or professional licensure. Employers and placement providers may require additional medical, vaccination, background or statutory documentation.

Modules

  1. Person-centred care, dignity and professional boundaries
  2. Personal hygiene and infection-prevention basics
  3. Nutrition, hydration and safe meal support
  4. Mobility, positioning and fall prevention
  5. Supporting older people and people with disabilities
  6. Communication, observation and basic records
  7. First-aid awareness and emergency escalation
  8. Caregiver wellbeing, ethics and safeguarding

Entry Requirements

Minimum KCSE grade D+ as advertised for the current programme, a valid ID or passport and a genuine interest in supporting people respectfully. Employers or placements may require additional health, safeguarding or statutory documentation.
