Community Empowerment

Panda Miti, Boresha Mazingira

A joint media briefing by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, the State Department for Forestry and the Government Spokesperson highlighted key priorities as Kenya prepares for Mazingira Day 2026 and ahead of the anticipated El Niño conditions.

The briefing emphasised four important pillars:

Restoration – Restoring degraded areas through tree planting, clean-ups and other environmental initiatives.

Biodiversity – Protecting forests, ecosystems and natural resources while promoting agroforestry and environmental conservation.

Economic Impact– Recognising environmental restoration as an opportunity to create livelihoods, support sustainable enterprises and build community wealth.

Resilience – Strengthening communities and ecosystems to better withstand climate challenges and prepare for El Niño.

These priorities speak directly to the work being undertaken by G-MSF through tree planting, community clean-ups, environmental education, orchard establishment and grassroots mobilisation.

Everyone has a role to play in protecting our environment. Every tree planted, every space cleaned, every ecosystem protected and every community prepared brings us closer to a greener and more resilient Kenya.

Small seeds. Lasting Impact.
