The Nairobi West Women Peace Cup started with a powerful Peace Walk, beginning at the DCC Office and moving through Satellite – P.C. Kinyanjui – Congo – Mayers – Ndurarua Stadium. Along the route, women, young people, community members and partners walked together with one shared message: PEACE.
At Ndurarua Stadium, history was made as more than 4,000 people gathered to celebrate sport, unity and peace. The energy was incredible! The teams stepped onto the field and gave us an exciting display of talent, determination and sportsmanship. Congratulations to our teams: 🥇 Dagoretti North | 🥈 Dagoretti South | 🥉 Westlands | 4️⃣ Lang’ata | 5️⃣ Kibra.
But this was more than football. It was a peace movement. We came together to speak against violence, drugs, crime and conflicts, promote peaceful communities, and strengthen the relationship between security agencies and the community. It was a powerful demonstration of how sport can bring people together and create safer, stronger communities.
We were honoured by the presence of Principal Secretary, State Department for Gender, Ms. Anne Wang’ombe, Nairobi Regional Deputy Police Commander Mr. Omar Arero, OCPD Dagoretti Mr. Samuel Kipron, representatives from the National Police Service, Administration Police Service and NGAO, Ms. Tecla Loroupe, Founder of the Tecla Loroupe Foundation,Madam Betty ,Daddy Moses and many other distinguished guests.
