Dr. Margaret Wanjuhi Naserian Gakami is a distinguished senior police officer, project management expert, and community development leader with extensive experience in security leadership, public administration, policy support, and sustainable development in Kenya.

Personal Experience

She is currently serving as the Dagoretti South Sub-County Commander with the National Police Service, where she provides strategic leadership in law enforcement operations, personnel management, inter-agency coordination, and community policing. Over the course of her career, Dr. Gakami has held senior security leadership roles across critical government institutions, including the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services, Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, Anti-Counterfeit Authority, and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties. Her work has focused on security risk management, investigations, institutional security frameworks, and executive advisory services. 

Dr. Gakami holds a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi, which she completed in 2025. She also holds a Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, a Diploma in Human Resource Management, and a Higher Diploma in Police Science Administration. Her academic and professional work reflects a strong foundation in research, policy analysis, leadership, and evidence-based decision-making.

In addition to her public service, Dr. Gakami is the Founder and Director of Gakami’s Mustard Seed Foundation, a community-based organization established to promote environmental conservation, climate action, education, youth and women empowerment, and sustainable development. Through the Foundation, she leads initiatives focused on reforestation, capacity building, mentorship, and strengthening community resilience, guided by the belief that transformative impact begins with small, intentional actions.

Dr. Gakami is deeply passionate about human rights, community empowerment, environmental conservation, comparative international development, and mentorship of young people. Recognized for her analytical insight, inclusive leadership, and commitment to service, she continues to make meaningful contributions to national security, policy development, and community transformation.
